Everton set for multi-million cash boost from Newcastle United

Everton could be set to receive a multi-million cash boost from Newcastle United, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported on page 79 of its print edition on Friday (8 December) that the Magpies still owe the Toffees up to £5million in achievable add-ons for the signing of Anthony Gordon.

The 22-year-old winger, who joined the Tyneside club for an initial £40million from the Blues in January, made an unhappy return to Goodison Park when his side were beaten 3-0 on Thursday (7 December).

Hostile

It was certainly a hostile reception that Gordon received from the Everton fans and it’s no surprise after he forced through a move away from the club earlier this year.

While he has been in excellent form for Newcastle this season, it was a night to forget for the Toffees academy product as his side were swept away on Merseyside.

The English winger also missed a great chance to put the Magpies ahead early on in the second half before three late goals earned the victory for the Blues.

While the injection of cash that looks set to be coming the club’s way isn’t a massive amount, they will welcome any extra money they can get their hands on at the moment due to the difficult financial situation.

Although the off-field issues will still be a concern to many, the performances on the pitch have made matters an awful lot brighter at Goodison Park recently.
