Injury Expert issues Seamus Coleman update ahead of Everton clash v Chelsea

Everton defender Seamus Coleman is “ruled out” of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea, according to Ben Dinnery.

The Injury Expert, taking to his Premier Injuries Twitter account (8 December) has shared that the Toffees veteran has now suffered a muscular injury after just returning from a long-term injury absence.

The right-back was handed a first appearance in the 3-0 victory over Newcastle United since suffering a serious knee injury in May. Coleman wasn’t due to start but an illness to James Garner meant that Dyche had to change his plans.

However, the 35-year-old was withdrawn in the 65th minute replaced by Nathan Patterson.

Another blow?

After sitting out for months after his knee injury in May, losing Coleman again would be another major blow for the Toffees if he is indeed ruled out of Sunday’s game.

The Goodison Park veteran was superb against Newcastle on Wednesday night, shackling former Toffees player Anthony Gordon out of the game in a solid performance.

Coleman’s experience and know-how is crucially required right now given the recent points punishment and those qualities was made crystal clear following his display against Newcastle.

As per SofaScore, Coleman won 100% of his duels and completed 100% of his dribbles along with three clearances as the Toffees sealed another crucial clean sheet against a rampant Newcastle team.

Patterson fared brilliantly when he came on against the Magpies, registering an assist for Beto’s first Premier League goal and will prove an able deputy should he keep his place against Chelsea on Sunday.

But, Dyche will be hoping Coleman’s injury isn’t too serious.

In other Everton news, Peter Reid has issued a £1billion ‘Crime’ admission as he fumes over a recent Toffees development.
