Jack Harrison gives update on permanent Everton transfer live on Sky Sports News

Jack Harrison said he will have to “review options in the summer” after being asked if his loan move from Leeds United to Everton will be made permanent.

The winger, 27, made the switch to Goodison Park on a season-long loan deal on August 14 due to a clause in his contract allowing him to depart on a temporary deal if the Whites were relegated.

Harrison has one goal and three assists for the Toffees from nine Premier League appearances this season. When asked by Sky Sports (9 December, 11:43am) about his future, Harrison was a little noncommittal but added he does not think Everton – who were handed a 10-point deduction for flouting the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules – will be in a relegation battle this season.

“Do what I can this year, I’m focused on this season and having a successful year and then we’ll just have to review options in the summer,” he said.

“But like I said it’s a great club and I don’t believe that we’ll be in a relegation fight at the end of the season. Obviously, we have to do what we can now to avoid that but I have every belief that this club can get out of a difficult situation and we’ll just have to see what happens.”

Tricky one

There is no doubt that Harrison has been an excellent addition to Everton’s squad and he has already made an impact for Sean Dyche’s side this term, so on the surface, it would be a no-brainer to sign him on full-time.

The difficulty is the pricetag to make the move permanent. Journalist Paul Brown stated in November that Leeds would ask for a £30million fee to allow Harrison to depart on a full-time deal.

It seems very difficult to imagine Everton will stump up that amount of money on one player, even if their troublesome financial situation gets eased by a takeover of the club, whether by 777 Partners or another as yet unknown buyer.

So, for now it is very much a case of wait and see when it comes to Harrison and his future at Goodison Park. There is also the added complication that Leeds might get promoted back to the Premier League and want him to remain a part of their squad.
