Journalist confident of solution to Everton ownership ‘crisis’ in New Year, shares 777 verdict

Everton will have a solution to their ownership “crisis” in the New Year but it has never been more certain that 777 Partners will not take over the club, according to the Esk.

Norwegian outfit Josimar reported on Thursday (7 December) that there are growing fears the Miami-based firm will become the first to publicly fail the Premier League’s “beefed up” fit and proper person test.

An agreement was first signed by 777 and Farhad Moshiri back on 15 September but the process has since dragged on for almost three months, with the club’s prospective new owners putting in around £20million a month in loans.

The company, led by Josh Wander and Steven Pasko, have indicated it will now continue with such loans beyond January if the deal is not completed.

Everton financial expert the Esk, who has been featured in the Daily Mail, reported via his X account that he is now more certain 777 will not gain control at Goodison Park.

“I have always held the view that 777 partners will not nor should not become owners of Everton Football Club,” he wrote.

“I have never been more confident and certain of that view as now. There is a solution to Everton’s ownership crisis, to be resolved in the New Year, but not 777.”

Some clarity needed

It is fair to say that there is more an air of uncertainty about whether 777 Partners are the right group to take over at Everton, even though the financial situation at Goodison Park is absolutely perilious.

The Esk has written on more than one occasion about his doubts regarding the Miami-based firm and his latest update offers some hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel even if the 777 deal does not get ratified.

What is certain, though, is that there is clarity needed. Clarity for Sean Dyche, clarity for the players, for all the staff at the club, and – of course – clarity is needed for supporters who have really been put through the mill.

On the pitch Everton have battled superbly after being handed a 10-point deduction for a breach of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, with back-to-back wins moving them out of the relegation zone. Now they just need answers off the pitch.

In other Everton news, Mauricio Pochettino has made an “aggressive” assessment of Dyche’s side ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Goodison.
