Injury Expert shares early Ashley Young injury update ahead of Everton clash v Burnley

Everton defender Ashley Young is an early doubt for Saturday’s Premier League against Burnley at Turf Moor, according to Ben Dinnery.

The Injury Expert, taking to his Premier Injuries X account (11 December) shared that there is currently no return date set for the Toffees ever-present with his return status at 25 per cent for Saturday (16 December).

The former Manchester United only lasted 41 minutes of Everton’s 2-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday (10 December) with what looked like a pulled muscle, with Young posting on social media after the game that he hopes the injury isn’t too serious.

Crucial

It has almost been forgotten in the news of Everton’s point deduction just how good a job Dyche has done at Goodison Park.

If the Toffees hadn’t lost those 10 points for breaching the profit and sustainability rules, they’d be sitting in the top half of the Premier League table on 23 points, four points behind Manchester United and 10 behind City in fourth.

Everton

This was a side that most pundits and supporters were tipping for relegation before a ball was kicked this season, but somehow Dyche has managed to create a team that is capable of picking up results consistently to climb the Premier League table.

Sunday’s result at Chelsea just after the 3-0 win over Newcastle just certainly goes to show the tremendous unity, togetherness and spirit in Dyche’s side right now and Young has been crucial to that form.

While the Toffees veteran may have his doubters give some struggling performances in recent weeks, his experience and leadership are absolutely crucial to the team in the dressing room.

Given the club’s recent form, Dyche certainly won’t want to lose Young right now but he does have a capable deputy in Nathan Patterson who is ready to step in when needed.
