Finance Expert shares if Everton have wasted costs with Premier League appeal
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton
Dan Plumley has insisted that Everton were always going to appeal their points deduction despite the added cost as a matter of principle to the Premier League.
The finance expert admitted that it won’t be seen as wasted money by the Toffees, as it was always seen as a matter of pride despite relegation looking out of the picture already.
Everton have won four games in a row in the Premier League now and currently sits seven points ahead of one of the worst bottom threes the division has ever seen.

“I think it’s the principle this one,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“I think it would have always played out this way and you can see from certainly how aggrieved Everton felt about the decision and how they thought they’d been singled out, this one was always about pride and the principle of it.
“They would always have been likely to appeal, I said at the time, I thought they would be safe even with the deduction and we’re certainly starting to see that, I don’t think they will get relegated despite the challenges they have had over the last couple of seasons, and their recent form is testament to that.

“There is a cost to the appeal, but they were always going to do it and I think it is a matter of principle this one and they feel as though they will have to see it through.”
