Ex-Everton Scout makes prediction ahead of Premier League clash v Tottenham

Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells…

Bryan King believes Everton will lose to Tottenham Hotspur in the upcoming Premier League clash between the clubs.

The Toffees travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take on Ange Postecoglou’s side on Saturday (23 December).

Sean Dyche’s men head into the match on a four-game winning run in the league, having beaten Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Burnley.

Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “The winning run will end on Saturday. I think Tottenham will beat them on Saturday, I really do. If Tottenham are to challenge for a top-four place then they have to beat Everton.

“Fulham showed that you can certainly compete with them. And to be fair, looking at it man for man, Everton are certainly not in Tottenham’s class, for me anyway.”

The Toffees are flying high in the Premier League at this moment in time, but their confidence will have taken a knock after their EFL Cup loss to Fulham.

The Cottagers won the quarter-final clash at Goodison Park on Tuesday (19 December) 7-6 on penalties, with Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gueye missing from the spot.

Tottenham meanwhile will be fully rested, having been knocked out of that competition by Fulham back in August, also on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

In other Everton news, Darren Bent is “surprised” that “bigger clubs” have not made a move for one “brilliant” Toffees player.
