Ex-Everton Scout wants Premier League changes after incident v Burnley at Turf Moor

Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells…

Bryan King believes better security is needed after an Everton supporter entered the Burnley coaches’ room before their recent clash.

According to the Daily Mail (18 December), the Toffees fan “gatecrashed” the room before the match on Saturday (16 December).

Sean Dyche’s outfit won the match 2-0 on the manager’s return to Turf Moor, with Amadou Onana and Michael Keane scoring the goals.

Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “I can’t imagine he was in there too long. Nothing will come of it. You see these little things all the time. It was like the Chelsea fan attacking the Newcastle goalkeeper. These things have got to be stopped.

“These people pay to watch the game, you don’t pay to go on the pitch. Honour and respect where you are and what you’re doing, because it makes problems for everybody else. Security maybe needs to be tightened up all around, at Burnley and at Chelsea.”

There certainly needs to be security changes implemented soon, with issues like the one at Turf Moor and Stamford Bridge simply not acceptable.

One Chelsea fan took to the pitch to charge at Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka during their EFL Cup clash on Tuesday.

Such incidents are becoming far too common in the modern game, with a small number of supporters ruining matches for other fans.

In other Everton news, former Premier League striker Darren Bent is “surprised” that “bigger clubs” have not made a move for one “brilliant” Toffees player.
