Jamie Carragher predicts result of Everton v Manchester City in Premier League clash at Goodison
Jamie Carragher has predicted Everton to lose 2-0 to the current Premier League champions Manchester City on Wednesday 27 December.
The Toffees had been in brilliant post-points-deduction form, claiming victory in four consecutive matches, all to nil. However, Sean Dyche’s men hit a bump in the road with a tightly fought 2-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
With Man City unbeaten in five games in all competitions, Carragher took to Skybet’s Super Six to predict that Everton will lose at home in the league for the first time since Manchester United and Alejandro Garnacho’s bicycle kick last month.

A true test of character
Despite a recent dip in form, Pep Guardiola’s Man City side seem to be back in form, coming into the game with huge amounts of confidence from lifting the FIFA Club World Cup trophy.
However, an Everton upset with Man City is not unheard of, with Demarai Gray the last time to inflict punishment upon the current Treble holders as the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Etihad in December 2022.
To see the Toffees win, though, you would need to turn back to January 2017 when Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley inspired a 4-0 victory at Goodison Park.

With the title race truly open for anyone to swoop in, Man City will be hoping to take all three points from a reinvigorated Everton side. But it may not be that easy. Dyche may have a trick or two up his sleeves when the European giants come to visit.
Though the Toffees will be wounded from the visit to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the return of Andre Gomes will be a huge boost for Dyche amid uncertainty over which midfielders he should be choosing.
Abdoulaye Doucoure could miss another fixture through injury, while Idrissa Gana Gueye was forced off against Spurs, and Amadou Onana’s confidence seems to have taken a hit after missing in the penalty shootout against Fulham in the EFL Cup.
In other Everton news, Mike Dean has weighed in on a controversial incident against Tottenham.
