Micah Richards wowed as ‘brilliant’ Andre Gomes footage emerges on MOTD after Everton loss v Tottenham
Micah Richards was wowed by what Andre Gomes did during the Everton game against Tottenham on Saturday (23 December).
Speaking on Match of the Day on Saturday (50:11), the pundit said it was a “brilliant” pass in the first half by the 30-year-old as he played in Jack Harrison, who couldn’t take the opportunity for his side.
The Portuguese midfielder got on the scoresheet himself in the second half, but it wasn’t enough for the Blues as they fell to a 2-1 defeat in North London.

“The goalkeeper for Spurs, Vicario, was outstanding today,” said Richards. “But just getting in these little pockets and then they’re off.
“A lot of the time you see Everton take too much time, but look at this pass from Gomes, brilliant. Harrison, again, a better touch and he’s in on goal. Spurs do well to get back and it’s a good save by the goalkeeper again.”
Quite the return
It was quite the performance from Gomes as he played his first minutes of the campaign in the defeat against Tottenham following his return from injury.
The midfielder was absolutely everywhere and was involved in most things that were good about Everton during his time on the pitch after replacing the injured Idrissa Gueye after just 24 minutes.
He was at the heart of a controversial incident just minutes into the second half when he won the ball back and set Dominic Calvert-Lewin through on goal, but his effort was ruled out for an alleged foul by the Portuguese in the build-up.

That didn’t stop Gomes from getting about the pitch looking to make things happen as he pulled a goal back for the Toffees with eight minutes left to play to set up a tense finish to the game.
His performance wasn’t enough for the Blues to claim anything from the match in the end, but it will certainly have given Sean Dyche something to think about ahead of his next team selection.
