Chris Sutton predicts result of Everton Premier League clash v Manchester City as ‘relentless’ claim made
Chris Sutton has predicted the result of the Premier League clash between Everton and Manchester City for BBC Sport.
Sean Dyche’s Toffees host the defending champions under the lights at Goodison Park on Wednesday (27 December).
Everton currently occupy 16th place in the Premier League table, with their upcoming opponents in fifth place with a game in hand.

“I really like what Everton are doing and I can see them giving the world champions a good game here,” Sutton wrote for BBC Sport (24 December).
“Manchester City will kick into gear at some point but I am not sure it will happen at Goodison Park. We don’t know if Erling Haaland will be fit to start, and it’s probably too soon for Kevin de Bruyne to come back from injury too.
“Everton are relentless at the moment, and even against Tottenham they kept going and almost snatched a point at the end. I can see them getting some reward this time.
“Sutton’s prediction: 1-1.”

Tough one
Everton have been going well under manager Dyche lately, with the club bouncing back from their 10-point deduction in stunning fashion.
They did lose 3-0 to Manchester United in their first match after the punishment, but that was followed by four successive league wins.
Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Burnley were all on the receiving end of an Everton fightback, with the Toffees keeping clean sheets in all four of those wins.
The momentum has, however, slowed down somewhat, with the Merseyside outfit having lost their last two matches.
Fulham came to Goodison Park on Tuesday (19 December) to win their EFL Cup clash on penalties after a 1-1 draw, while Tottenham defeated the Toffees 2-1 in Premier League action on Saturday (23 December).
Dyche will, however, be very frustrated to have lost the latter match, and the players should be confident of taking something from Manchester City if they produce a similar display to the one they did in North London.
In other Everton news, a Sky Sports journalist has shared a “lucky” verdict after an “extremely harsh” decision in the loss against Tottenham.
