Ex-Everton Scout accuses agent of fabrication as Amadou Onana speculation emerges at Arsenal

Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells…

Bryan King believes Everton midfielder Amadou Onana will not be making a move to Premier League rivals Arsenal.

According to the Daily Mail (18 December), the Gunners are watching the Toffees man “closely” as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his midfield.

The publication added that the Gunners are planning for life without Thomas Partey, whose contract expires in 18 months.

When asked if he can see Onana moving to the Emirates, King told Goodison News: “No. He’s not an Arsenal player. I just think it’s an agent putting stories in the paper.

“Why would Arsenal be looking at him with what they’ve got? I can that this is coming from the agency or somebody looking to put a story in the paper.

“One Everton player who went to Arsenal was Arteta. He was a quality midfield player, and he improved Arsenal at the time. But I don’t think there is anyone at Everton that would improve Arsenal to be honest.”

Sean Dyche has been working wonders at Goodison Park in recent times, with his players putting in determined displays as they look to climb back up the Premier League table.

But the majority of their players are some way off the stars that Arteta is working with in North London, with the Gunners currently flying high in the table.

Onana himself has endured a roller-coaster few days, having scored against Burnley in the league before missing a weak penalty against Fulham in the EFL Cup.

In other Everton news, a journalist has shut down a “far-fetched” Toffees transfer for one international ace.
