Two ruled out by Sean Dyche, player who started vs Man City misses training – Early Everton teams news vs Wolves

Everton manager Sean Dyche has delivered an early team news update ahead of his side’s Premier League clash against Wolves this coming weekend.

Everton make the trip to Molineux on Saturday (30 December) aiming to put three successive defeats in all competitions behind them.

Speaking at his pre-match news conference on Thursday (28 December), Dyche confirmed that Idrissa Gueye remains sidelined with a calf injury and Ashley Young is also out.

James Tarkowski may also be considered a doubt as he missed training on Thursday (28 December) with a “knock”, as did Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

There is better news for Everton, however, as Abdoulaye Doucoure has been described as “touch and go” as he battles back from an injury lay-off of his own.

Added importance

From seemingly being in a pretty stress-free position a couple of weeks back to now looking over their shoulders, this trip to Wolves has taken on added importance for Everton.

Back-to-back losses against Tottenham and Manchester City have coincided with back-to-back wins for a spirited Luton Town side, who occupy the final relegation spot.

Everton

The Hatters are now within a point of the Toffees and also have a game in hand to play, so Everton are well and truly back in a relegation scrap.

This type of pressure seems to get the best out of the players, however, and this game with in-form Wolves provides a chance to get things back on track.

Dyche will hope to have Tarkowski and Calvert-Lewin available, even if the latter was dropped to the bench for the loss to Man City.

Getting Doucoure back on the field is also a priority as he brings goals to the side, while it seems like it will be a bit longer before Gueye and Young are back involved.

If the players available show the spirit we saw during the recent winning streak, there is no reason they cannot return from Molineux with all three points at the weekend.
