Everton: Injury expert provides update as Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Tarkowski miss training
Both James Tarkowski and Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be fit to face Wolves on Saturday (30 December) despite missing training on Thursday, as Sean Dyche confirmed the latest Everton injury news.
The boss also announced that Idrissa Gueye will miss out after he was forced off with an injury in midweek, although initial signs are better than first thought.
Finally, Ashley Young will continue to miss out due to his long-term injury blow, although Dyche is confident they could see him return quickly.
As shared by injury expert Ben Dinnery on Twitter [29 December]: “Idrissa Gana Gueye was forced off midweek, but Dyche confirms ‘the early signs are better than first thought’ although this game comes too soon.
“James Tarkowski and Dominic Calvert-Lewin will both be OK despite missing training on Thursday.
“‘Ashley Young is still a bit away after a few weeks, but he’s a super-fit fella, so we’re hopeful he’ll return pretty quickly.'”
Positive news ahead of Wolves
The update that both Calvert-Lewin and Tarkowski will be fit to feature against Wolves will come as music to the ears of Everton fans after initial fears that they would miss out after neither of them were involved in the first-team training session on 28 December.
Tarkowski in particular will be a welcome return, with his partnership at the back alongside Jarrad Branthwaite providing the foundation for everything good Everton have done under Sean Dyche this season, with that pairing the undoubted stars of the team.

The return of Calvert-Lewin will also prove a valuable boost. The Englishman was left on the bench for the 3-1 defeat against Manchester City in favour of Beto as Dyche is keen not to put too much pressure on his fitness, but he remains the first-choice at Goodison Park.
Gueye’s absence also may not be felt as much as other positions, with the team well-stacked in midfield with Amadou Onana, James Garner and Andre Gomes all able to provide adequate cover.
In other Everton news, 777 must clear another hurdle before takeover can be completed.
