Ex-Everton Scout: Sean Dyche made point with Dominic Calvert-Lewin decision
Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells…
Former Everton scout Bryan King thinks Sean Dyche may have been making a point to Dominic Calvert-Lewin by not starting him against Manchester City.
England striker Calvert-Lewin was a notable absentee from the starting line-up during the Toffees’ 3-1 defeat at Goodison Park on Wednesday (27 December).
Beto was instead chosen to lead the line against the reigning champions, with Calvert-Lewin utilised off the substitutes bench.

Calvert-Lewin has not scored since the 1-0 victory over West Ham on October 29, and his goal drought now sits at 10 matches in all competitions.
King, speaking to Goodison News, pondered whether Dyche was giving Calvert-Lewin a wake-up call by sitting him on the bench.
“I wouldn’t have done that,” he said.
“Whether he’s trying to make a point to Calvert-Lewin I don’t know, but you saw when Calvert-Lewin came on the attacking side of Everton’s play seemed to pick up and he had that very good chance didn’t he?

Asked whether he was impressed by Beto, King replied: “Not really no.”
After winning four straight Premier League games, Everton have lost on penalties in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals to Fulham before losing to Tottenham and City.
The Toffees are back in action on Saturday with a trip to Wolves.
In other Everton news, the Toffees want to bring in a player from West Ham during the January transfer window.
