Paul Merson gushes over Matheus Cunha as he predicts result of Everton Premier League clash v Wolves

Paul Merson has predicted the result of the Premier League clash between Everton and Wolves, and praised the quality of Matheus Cunha in the process.

The Toffees suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Manchester City in their last outing despite a strong display, while Wolves battered Brentford 4-1 away from home to maintain their own good form.

And speaking to Sportskeeda (28 December) to predict the next round of fixtures, Merson admitted that he believes Cunha could play for any team in the world if he added more goals to his game but admitted that with Sean Dyche’s side in need of a win, he expects a 2-2 draw.

“Wolves have had a good Christmas so I think this should be an interesting game with a handful of goals,” he wrote.

“They have some good players and have done really well to cope in the absence of Pedro Neto, who I believe is their main man. If Matheus Cunha could score a few goals, I think he could play for any team in the world as his dribbling ability and link-up play is top-notch.

“Everton should have got a result against Tottenham and pushed Manchester City to their limits earlier this week, indicating that both sides are playing some decent football heading into this one.

“That said, Sean Dyche’s side are just a point adrift of the relegation zone and need to get a result here. Wolves 2-2 Everton.”

Winnable

The form of Everton recently has been really good, despite results not really going their way but they need to start getting points on the board again.

The 10 point deduction has already been implemented despite the appeal process being underway, and it has dragged us into a relegation battle that we have no business being part of currently.

Everton

Wolves have got some quality footballers including Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan who is in fantastic form, but Dyche will be confident of having his own fantastic quality options and will see this game as more than winnable.

The form away from home has also been really good for the Toffees, but Wolves being at home will undoubtedly feel they can win this too which should make for an open game.

It will be entertaining but we have to start getting the points our performances merit, to end what has been a difficult year on a high.
