Leon Osman cannot believe what he’s told in Everton loss vs Wolves as Sean Dyche plea made at Goodison Park

Leon Osman was amazed by an “incredible” statistic regarding Seamus Coleman at Everton he was informed of during the loss against Wolves.

Long-serving full-back Coleman was introduced in the second half of Saturday’s (30 December) contest with the Toffees already three goals down in their 3-0 defeat.

That was the Republic of Ireland international’s 354th Premier League appearance for Everton, equalling Tim Howard’s club record.

Osman, covering the game at Molineux for the World Feed, was told by fellow commentator David Stowell that Coleman has played under nine Everton bosses.

“That’s quite incredible,” Osman replied [30 December, 4:28pm]. “We played about 200 games together under just one or two managers.”

“We’ve gone from that stability to the changes Everton have had over the last seven or eight years.

“You’d hope the changes have stopped now and Sean Dyche will be in charge for a few years.”

Nine and out?

The nine managers stat is rather damning from Everton’s perspective when you consider the stability that came prior to all of this.

Coleman was the first ever Everton player to feature under seven different Toffees bosses, never mind nine of them.

The full list of Everton managers during Coleman’s time at the club have been David Moyes, Roberto Martinez, Ronald Koeman, Sam Allardyce, Marco Silva, Carlo Ancelotti, Rafael Benitez, Frank Lampard and Sean Dyche.

Incredibly, that list does not include the two caretaker spells both David Unsworth and Duncan Ferguson had in charge at Goodison Park, technically making it 11 different managers for Coleman.

As Osman says, hopefully that is now a thing of the past and Dyche is here for the next few years.

That is a bold statement to make on the back of a fourth successive loss in all competitions, but Dyche has proved what he is capable of at Goodison.

Coleman recently turned 35 and has struggled badly with injuries this season, so it may well be that Dyche is the final manager on that long list.
