Everton to make decision over Arnaut Danjuma future amid Lyon interest – Fabrizio Romano
Despite genuine interest from Olympique Lyon, Everton are yet to make a decision on whether Arnaut Danjuma will be allowed to leave Goodison Park in January, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Danjuma joined the Toffees on loan from Villarreal in January but has failed to impress so far under Sean Dyche, leading to reports that the Spanish outfit could terminate the loan deal and send him elsewhere.
Romano shared that the interest from Lyon has not seen talks advance yet, with the deal still reportedly in the early stages, although it is suggested this will progress in the coming days.
Weighing up the decision
With no call made yet by Everton, they have to weigh up whether losing Danjuma and the depth he provides the squad is worth it. Ultimately there is no upside for Dyche and his squad in this situation other than cutting ties with a possibly unhappy player.
Reported interest from Europe could see the winger agitate for a move away, while Villarreal may want to either cash in on a permanent transfer or see him given more minutes to impress on another loan deal whether that by with Lyon in France or elsewhere.
Danjuma has made just 12 Premier League appearances for Everton since arriving in the summer, and only three of those appearances have been from the start as he has struggled to impress the boss enough to earn a starting role.

With the lack of clarity over his role in the squad, it would not be a surprise to see the Dutchman leave Goodison Park in the January transfer window, and with talks still at an early stage there could be plenty of twists and turns, but it looks likely that he will leave, depending on the club’s position.
