Everton v Crystal Palace: Doctor issues injury update on Abdoulaye Doucoure

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Everton...

Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure could make his return to the first team against Crystal Palace on 5 January, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that he will be undergoing a late fitness test and appears to be one a game by game assessment before returning to action.

Doucoure has been ruled out with a thigh injury and could be a muscular one which is what appears to be delaying his return.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Goodison News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

He’s dealing with a thigh injury, most likely muscular.

As per Dyche’s comments, this does sound like a game by game situation where he will be fitness tested for each.

However, it does not seem to be too serious and he could be back in contention right away.”

The 31-year-old last featured for Everton on 16 December when they picked up a 2-0 victory against Burnley in the Premier League.

He has been one of the most important players for Sean Dyche this season and has taken his game to the next level.

He’s also bagged six Premier League goals from 17 games and has become an unlikely source of goals for the first team.

In other Everton news, a Toffees-linked player is now in advanced talks to secure a move to Sheffield United in the January transfer window.
