Jamie Carragher predicts result of Everton v Aston Villa Premier League clash

Jamie Carragher has made his prediction for the Premier League clash between Everton and Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

The Toffees earned a hard-fought 0-0 draw in their FA Cup 3rd round clash with Crystal Palace last time out, while Aston Villa progressed to the 4th round with a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough.

But Carragher believes the game will be close, and when making his predictions for this week’s round for Super 6 (11 January), the Liverpool legend backed a 1-1 draw between the sides.

Home form

The club’s home form this season has been especially disappointing and it’s a big reason why the club are struggling in a relegation battle.

The away form has been excellent and without the ten-point deduction that was handed down by the Premier League we would be comfortably in mid-table.

However with better home form we’d be there even with the deduction, and Sean Dyche knows he needs to improve that in the second half of the season otherwise it’s going to be tough to pull away from the pack at the bottom.

Everton

With just three home wins in the league this season and one draw it’s not good enough. The opening game of the season against Villa ended badly with a 4-0 defeat, but the team got revenge in the Carabao Cup with a 2-1 win.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be available with his red card against Palace rescinded and hopefully he’ll come back with a vengeance and prove Carragher wrong by getting all three points.

In other Everton news, Roy Keane almost joined Toffees but for “bizarre” reason.
