Everton ready to fight after new lawyer development at Goodison Park

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton

Dan Plumley has insisted that Everton are pushing to fight their corner as effectively as possible against the Premier League and charges upon the club.

It comes after The Times reported on 10 January that the Toffees have added Laurence Rabinowitz KC to their legal team, one of the UK’s top barristers ahead of their appeal.

With Everton expecting to be charged a second time on Monday 15 January, the finance expert admitted that getting the best people in their field will always help their cause.

“That is it,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“Certainly, it’s been exacerbated in the last few weeks and months but down the years with the more we’ve learned about FFP and the way the ecosystem works, how many times have we seen clubs enlist the services of really high-profile lawyers and accountants to work with them to try and negate some of these issues?

This is another example if you want to fight your corner and fight it as effectively as possible, you go out and get the best people in their field.

“This is another example from Everton of a statement of ‘we are going to contest this and get the best people to fight our corner on it’.”
