Farhad Moshiri still ‘huge problem’ at Everton after new Premier League breach

Oliver Kay has labelled Farhad Moshiri a “huge problem” amid the chaos at Everton after yet another Premier League charge on Monday 15 January.

Following the club’s 10-point deduction earlier this season, Everton has been charged with another Profit and Sustainability breach, alongside Nottingham Forest.

The Toffees face the risk of another points deduction or possibly a fine, with The Athletic journalist hitting back at the management of Moshiri when questioned by fans.

“I absolutely stand by what I said: Kenwright wasn’t the problem,” he wrote via X on Tuesday (16 January).

“Moshiri’s management of the club was and still is a huge problem. I’ve written so countless times and I’ve never criticised Everton fans – they’re right to protest. The club has been run chaotically, like I said.”

Damning factor

Covid had an extreme impact on football clubs all over the world, but Everton’s ownership decided to take it one step further with their reckless spending in the summer of 2020.

Having signed James Rodriguez, Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ben Godfrey, come the end of that season, Everton saw yet another massive loss on their mission for success.

Moshiri has managed to somewhat escape the spotlight given the ongoing process of the 777 Partners takeover, but all roads lead back to his gross mismanagement at Goodison Park.

Everton fans absolutely have the right to contest the charges, mainly because they have no say in how their club is run whatsoever, raising the idea that the Bundesliga’s “50+1” rule would solve a lot of problems.

Of course, anyone in connection to Goodison Park wants the club to stay afloat in the Premier League and aim for domestic success. But Moshiri’s ownership may have just cost Everton their spot in the top tier, depending on how strict the punishment is.
