Alan Brazil fumes live on talkSPORT over Everton controversy, moots Man City punishment

Alan Brazil has revealed that he’s “sick” of the uncertainty surrounding Premier League clubs after Everton and Nottingham Forest were charged with breaching spending rules.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Thursday (18 January, 07:22am), the host admitted it’s worrying him that a date has now been set for Manchester City’s hearing, with Gabby Agbonlahor questioning whether they could have their league titles taken away from them if they are found guilty.

Brazil confessed that he didn’t know what would happen to the Citizens, but he questioned whether the Etihad club having “brilliant lawyers and loads of money” is the reason why they haven’t been punished yet, with the Toffees already being handed a 10-point deduction in November.

“Do you know what in the back of my mind worries me, this investigation we have a date set now,” said Brazil.

“What could they do?” asked Agbonlahor. “Could they take away their league titles, their Champions League?”

“Well, it’s over a nine-season period, isn’t it?” said Brazil. “There are 115 charges against them. I just don’t get it.”

“Liverpool would have a few more league titles then, wouldn’t they?” added Agbonlahor.

“Can they do that and go back and take them off them?” asked Brazil. “I’m sick of it because Everton are getting punished, Forest are in trouble and what’s going to happen with City?

“Is it just that City have got brilliant lawyers and loads of money? I don’t know.”

Unknown

There are so many unknowns surrounding each of these cases as these kinds of things have never happened in the Premier League before.

It sent shockwaves around the footballing world when Everton were previously handed their 10-point deduction and now the fears are growing once again following the latest allegations.

The difference between the Toffees’ case and that of Man City is that the league champions haven’t admitted to any wrongdoing, so they asked for time to present their defence against the 115 charges they are facing.

It’s unclear what exactly would happen to the Citizens, with everything from titles being stripped to relegations being talked about, but things should start to move a bit quicker now that a date has been set.

The Blues, however, will just be hoping to not receive a further points deduction before they have even heard back about the result of their appeal following the first ruling.
