Landon Donovan involvement in Everton takeover mooted as USA speculation emerges
Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells…
Bryan King believes former Everton player Landon Donovan could be involved with a potential takeover of the club.
The verdict comes amid the news that a consortium of US-based investors is preparing to launch a new bid to buy the Toffees [Josimar, 9 January].
The publication added that the group has been put together by a prominent sporting figure with a strong knowledge of the club.

Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “If it’s another American company, who could it be, Landon Donovan? He could be the prominent figure.
“We used Landon, he came on loan for two or three years during the winter months of the MLS, so he has a good affiliation with Everton, he knows the club.
“He did very well with Everton, and I know David Moyes liked him immensely. It could work, he could be a rather good advisor for this new consortium.”

Former USA international Donovan made 22 appearances for the Merseyside outfit, as well as representing the likes of LA Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes.
He, therefore, certainly knows them more than others do, but whether his brief playing time there is enough to constitute “strong knowledge” of the Toffees remains to be seen.
One certainty is that Everton are in need of plenty of help from people who live and breathe the club in these difficult times.
