Neal Maupay stakes claim for Everton future after ‘excellent’ moment in Brentford v Nottingham Forest
Neal Maupay certainly hasn’t had the best period of his career at Everton, with the striker currently on loan at Premier League rivals Brentford.
Toffees manager Sean Dyche perhaps had no choice but to send him away after just one goal from 32 appearances in blue.
The forward already has more goals for his temporary club, netting five times in all competitions so far this season for Brentford.
He is currently in red-hot form, scoring in all three of Brentford’s matches this year, with goals coming against two different clashes with Wolves in the FA Cup and the league win over Nottingham Forest.
The Bees edged out Forest 3-2 on Saturday (20 January), with Maupay’s strike catching the eye of BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone, who was impressed by the “excellent finish.”
Everton manager Sean Dyche is currently heavily relying on Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the striker position at Goodison Park this season, with the likes of Beto and Youssef Chermiti failing to live up to expectation since their arrivals at the club.
That situation, along with Maupay’s form, could see the Toffees boss turn to Maupay in the near future, with the striker expected back at Merseyside at the end of the season.
At the same time, however, his performances for the Bees could tempt Brentford into making the loan deal permanent.

And that would not be the worst scenario in the world for Everton, who would be receiving some sort of sum for a player who has really struggled for them time after time.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are now ready for a bid for a Goodison Park star as a vulnerability and Dyche stance emerges.
