Everton can appeal Premier League charges at same time in new update – Finance Expert

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton...

Dan Plumley has shared that Everton can appeal both of their Premier League breaches at the same time as they are separate charges.

The finance expert insisted that the Premier League want these issues sorted by April, with potential problems for the sporting integrity of the competition if running any further.

The Toffees have been referred to an independent commission following the second charge, with another appeal expected in the very near future.

“My understanding is that they can run side by side,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“Obviously, I’m no lawyer but because the charges are separate, you can run things in conjunction.

I guess the tricky thing is how does that play out over the course of the next few weeks, we’ve seen the ultimate backstop for the dates with this is a week after the season has finished.

The Premier League is saying they want all of this sorted out by April, which is still late on in the season, so you are going to get into this position over the next few weeks where there are appeals going on, we don’t quite know what points number the club are at or what they will finish on and that creates challenges for that relegation fight over the next couple of months.

We kind of where we are with this one right now and you would expect Everton to appeal again, they’re already appealing the first verdict, so these things will have to get sorted out as nobody wants to be going into the last couple of weeks of the season with clubs not knowing what points they’re on as that creates some real problems for the sporting integrity of the season.”
