Everton ‘open’ to £60m Amadou Onana sale in January transfer deal with Newcastle
Everton are open to allowing Amadou Onana to leave the club in January, with a fee of £60million enough for Newcastle to secure a deal, according to Football Transfers.
The transfer news outlet reported on 24 January that Newcastle are keen to get a deal done amid uncertainty around the futures of Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes.
However, it is said that the price tag would be steep for Newcastle given their Financial Fair Play constraints, and they would prefer a loan deal with an obligation to buy, which Everton are unlikely to agree to.
Everton need to stick to their price
Ultimately, it doesn’t matter what Newcastle can do with their spending this winter. If Everton are demanding £60million up front, they must stick to that price tag and not cave to any request to pay the fee at a later date.
The Toffees will be desperate to keep Onana through the January window, and as a result, they must stick to their guns with their high valuation of the midfielder, no matter who comes knocking.
With the threat of a further points deduction looming after a potential second charge for breaches of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, Sean Dyche may need all of his best players performing at the top of their game if they hope to avoid relegation this season.

At least if their £60million asking price was met, the club could enter the market in the closing stages of the window to find reinforcements, but a loan-to-buy deal only benefits Newcastle this month, with Everton left in the lurch.
In other Everton news, Newcastle could use a player sale to finance the deal.
