Dele Alli update emerges from Goodison as Everton star now ruled out indefinitely
Everton attacker Dele Alli is now set to be ruled out indefinitely as he will require surgery on his groin, according to Sean Dyche.
The England international is yet to play under the manager and has struggled to return to full fitness since pre season.
Dyche, in his press conference on Thursday, 25 January, confirmed that the 27-year-old’s return date is unknown but he will continue to be ruled out of action.
Liverpool Echo’s Joe Thomas wrote on Twitter: “Dele has required surgery on a groin issue. No timescale for return at this stage.”
Bad luck
Nothing has gone right for Alli since his move to Goodison Park from Tottenham Hotspur.
It seemed like he could find a new lease of life under Frank Lampard, but his career trajectory went in the opposite direction.
A loan move to Besiktas was planned in the hopes that he would get regular game time and get his career back on track but that did not happen either.
Since his return to Everton, he has been battling multiple injuries, suffered setbacks during rehabilitation and has also spoken at length about his mental health issues.
It remains to be seen if he will be at Goodison Park beyond the summer as this certainly will not have impressed Dyche, especially given the high fitness standards he sets from his players.
Alli unfortunately cannot seem to catch a break and all Toffees fans are undoubtedly hoping that he gets the best treatment and that he can return to action as soon as possible.
