Sean Dyche must sanction Ben Godfrey Everton exit now amid Fabrizio Romano transfer update
Everton manager Sean Dyche will be reluctant to have his squad shaken up given the off-field issues surrounding the club.
The Toffees were deducted 10 points earlier this season for breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, with another charge recently going their way.
The financial struggles at Goodison Park perhaps has fans worrying about the loss of key players in order to ease the situation, with the likes of Anthony Gordon and Richarlison leaving in recent times.
Dyche will be desperate to avoid a similar scenario this month, but one player that could be allowed to leave is Ben Godfrey.
The central defender has barely featured for the Toffees this season, playing just 180 minutes across three appearances in all competitions.
James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite have been the preferred duo at centre-back for Dyche, with Michael Keane seemingly next in line.
Godfrey should, therefore, be allowed to leave Goodison Park this month, with the ideal opportunity now opening up for the 26-year-old.
According to Fabrizio Romano (24 January), Genoa are considering a move for the defender, with the club part of the 777 Partners portfolio.

A temporary switch to the Serie A side would benefit all parties involved, with Godfrey able to play regularly for a team currently competing at the top level of Italian football.
Genoa would be getting a very experienced defender, one with 99 Premier League appearances to his name, while the Toffees could keep a close eye on the player given their 777 connection.
In other Everton news, talks are underway over a Goodison Park loanee exit, and the deal could go down to the wire this month.
