Fabrizio Romano: Everton waiting for ‘big money’ offer to sell exit-linked Amadou Onana at Goodison Park

There currently aren’t any clubs putting “big money” on the table to sign Everton midfielder Amadou Onana in the January transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking to GiveMeSport on Thursday (25 January), the Italian journalist said the 22-year-old Belgian international is attracting interest from several clubs across Europe, especially in England.

He added that the Toffees are waiting to see what happens, but he believes the situation surrounding their midfield is one to “keep a close eye on” until the end of the transfer window.

“We know that Onana is of interest to many clubs across Europe, especially in England,” said Romano. “But, at the moment, no one is still putting big money on the table.

“Everton are waiting, but I think we have to keep a close eye on this midfield situation until the end of the January window.”

It will be a huge relief for Everton if they still have all of their star players when the transfer window slams shut in just under a week.

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Onana as well as fellow midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure and talented defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

But the Belgian is the one who has been the subject of most of that interest, with Arsenal heavily linked with making a move to sign him this month.

Sean Dyche will know the importance of keeping hold of the midfielder, though, as his presence in the middle of the park will be crucial in their bid to fight off relegation again this season.

It will take a massive offer for the Toffees to even consider a sale, but as clubs start to get desperate towards the end of the window, anything could happen over the next few days.
