Andre Gomes out – Everton confirmed XI v Luton Town

Everton have confirmed their starting XI for an FA Cup clash against fellow Premier League side Luton Town on Saturday (27 January).

Sean Dyche has made one change from their 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the previous round on Wednesday (17 January).

Joao Virginia keeps his place in the starting XI, having impressed in both matches against Roy Hodgson’s Palace side, with Jordan Pickford left out.

It is an unchanged backline, with James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite continuing to strive in their defensive partnership. Nathan Patterson and Vitalii Mykolenko will deputise on either flank as usual.

Amadou Onana and James Garner also keep their spots in the starting XI, with Abdoulaye Doucoure not fit enough to complete the midfield trio with them.

Jack Harrison and Dwight McNeil maintain their starting positions. Andre Gomes is the only change to Dyche’s starting XI, with Beto handed an unlikely start alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Getting revenge

The Toffees will be hoping to build on their victory over Crystal Palace in the Third Round with a win over fellow Premier League strugglers Luton.

Kicking off at Goodison Park at 3 pm, Dyche’s side will be looking for revenge after the visitors beat them earlier this season in the league, with Tom Lockyer and Carlton Morris scoring in a 2-1 loss.

Calvert-Lewin finally poked home after Onana and Doucoure were thwarted by Thomas Kaminski, who has been in fine form between the sticks despite a substandard season from the Hatters.

Everton will be hoping for a much less dramatic FA Cup fixture, with Calvert-Lewin wrongly being sent off in a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace before the Toffees claimed victory in the replay.

Similarly to Everton, Luton drew their Third Round tie against Bolton Wanderers, eventually churning out a 2-1 comeback after Dion Charles’ opener earlier this month.

Anything can happen in the FA Cup, especially considering the magic that football fans and pundits alike speak about when focusing on the age-old competition.
