Everton transfer news as approach made to sign Juventus forward Timothy Weah at Goodison Park
Everton have seen an approach to sign Juventus forward Timothy Weah personally rejected by the player, according to Ed Aarons.
The Guardian journalist shared on his personal X account (29 January) that the American international has rejected a potential loan move to Goodison Park from the Serie A leaders.
Weah only joined the Italian giants from French outfit LOSC Lille over the summer and has gone on to make 19 appearances in all competitions, registering two assists.
Aarons posted on Monday afternoon: “Timothy Weah has rejected a potential loan move to Everton from Juventus.”
Difficult
The attraction from Everton to sign the American forward is given his success in France where he proved a key performer for Lille and is making an impression at the Italian giants playing an unfamiliar role as a wing-back.
However, Weah isn’t known for his goalscoring exploits though and that is shown through the fact that he is yet to score for Juventus this season and didn’t even bag a league goal in France in 29 appearances in Ligue 1 last season.
If Sean Dyche and the Toffees are trying to bring in the American to bolster their attacking firepower then they would certainly need to look elsewhere because Weah isn’t the solution.
The Juventus man certainly is a player they have identified given Arnaut Danjuma could well be leaving the club before Thursday’s deadline but thankfully, Weah has rejected the approach.
An attacking transfer is very much needed at Goodison Park but it is best if the club try and get players who are attainable and want the move, and more crucially, have the capabilities to make an immediate impact.

That’s always a difficult deal to do in January.
In other Everton news, a “desperate” twist has emerged in the club’s pursuit of Jake O’Brien.
