Source shares if Everton will have to make Anthony Gordon-esque sale before transfer deadline
Everton will not be forced into another Anthony Gordon-esque sale at the end of the transfer window a source has told iNews (29 January).
Reporter Mark Douglas wrote for the newspaper’s online version that huge price tags have been put on sought-after stars Amadou Onana and Jarrad Branthwaite.
However, it is reported that the Toffees do not have a pressing need to sell like they did 12 months ago when Newcastle pounced on their troublesome situation to sign winger Anthony Gordon in a deal that reportedly could reach £45million (Sky Sports).
Everton’s own struggles with profit and sustainability rules is coincidentally given as a reason why they might have their top stars poached before the 1 February deadline.
Good news
Everton supporters are no doubt sick to death of talking about financial fair play, profit and sustainability, 777 Partners takeover talk and money worries. All these wonderful fans want is just some stability.
Well, sadly, stability looks still pretty far away if we’re being honest and there are likely to be more hurdles to clear before any of those talking points can be a thing of the past.
But at least for now it looks as though there is some good news with Everton apparently not in a position whereby one or both of Branthwaite and Onana will have to be moved on to ease financial pressures.

You would expect that only offers probably topping £100million would be considered in the closing days of the window and with PSR concerns affecting most of the top flight it’s very difficult to see anyone coming up with that, so Everton fans can breathe just a little easier.
In other Everton news, a “desperate” twist has emerged in the club’s pursuit of Jake O’Brien.
