Amadou Onana decides on Everton transfer after what happened on Tuesday night
Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is set to stay put at Goodison Park beyond Thursday 1 February, according to Sacha Tavolieri.
The Belgian journalist reported via his official X account (30 January) that the 22-year-old will remain with the Toffees “at least until the end of the season.”
Onana is keen to help Sean Dyche’s side fight for survival in the Premier League.
He was absent from Everton’s squad for their 0-0 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage on Tuesday 30 January, but that was due to an injury rather than speculation linking him with a move away from the club.
Huge boost
This will be music to many Everton supporters’ ears.
In an era of football where players are so often on the move, the news that one of their most important midfielders wants to remain with the club and help them fight for Premier League survival is a massive boost.
Onana has been a standout performer for Dyche and Everton since he arrived on Merseyside, and despite plenty of speculation suggesting he could make a move away from the club this month, it looks as if there is no truth to these rumours.
Keeping the youngster fit until the end of the season will no doubt be a priority, and now that he has pledged his loyalty to the club he will certainly be looking to back this up with some strong performances on the pitch.
Losing him late in the January transfer window would have come as a big loss, but it now appears that Dyche does not need to worry about this prospect.
