Bryan King shares West Brom stance on Tom Fellows amid Everton interest

Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells…

Bryan King believes that Everton are not as attractive as they were a few years ago amid links with West Brom ace Tom Fellows.

According to Fabrizio Romano (10 January), the Toffees had been monitoring the Albion attacker in light of a potential summer transfer.

But the 20-year-old, who has two goals to his name this season, has since signed a three-and-a-half-year contract extension at The Hawthorns [official West Brom website, 26 January].

Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “If Everton come calling, the first thing that is going to hit you is Premier League wages. They are an established Premier League club, but everything has made the whole situation unsure now with the points deduction, and maybe more point deductions.

“The club is not as attractive as it was maybe two years ago. Everton are in a very difficult position at the moment with everything – the takeover, the new ground, the playing staff, the way the club is being run. You’ve got a chairman who really can’t sell the club quickly enough, but it hasn’t been happening quickly enough.

“With Fellows signing a new contract with West Brom, is it West Brom saying to Everton ‘the offers you made for him are not what we were looking for, he’s going to sign with us, if you want to come back for him, the fee is going to be bigger anyway.’”

In other Everton news, the Toffees are “huge fans” of one Leicester City star as a late January development emerges.
