Finance Expert shares new Everton appeal timeline after Premier League noises
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton..
Dan Plumley has insisted that the Premier League will want everything to do with Everton and their charges resolved by April this season.
It comes after Alan Myers shared on January 30 that the Toffees’ appeal over their first charge and points deduction will start on Wednesday 31 January, with a decision by mid-February.
The finance expert shared “noises” from the Premier League that they will want that and any appeal regarding the second charge sorted before the end of the season.
It is said that will no doubt put a strain on the club and its fans at Goodison Park though, with the ultimate backstop date after the season has finished.
“We’re going off the Premier League at the moment,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“They’re making noises that we’ve seen in the press that they want all of this resolved by April, we know we’ve got that ultimate backstop date but that happens after the season has finished.
“For everyone concerned, you would want it sorted as soon as possible, that April timeline that the Premier League are working to is something that they’ve mapped out and it could change, but these things do take time and we expect it to drag on a little bit.
“I think we’re all looking at April now as the absolute point in time when hopefully these charges will be sorted out and Everton will know where they are going into the final couple of weeks of the season.
“Anything later than that puts a real strain on the club and of course on the fanbase as well.

“Let’s look at the April date as the marker, and I’m sure if things can get done quicker and there is a swifter resolution then hopefully that happens, but that does depend on the club as well as you’d expect an appeal for the second charge and that will drag things out longer as well.”
