Ismailia Sarr reacts as Everton want to seal late January transfer
Ismailia Sarr is said to be happy at his current club Marseille despite Everton reportedly being interested in the winger, according to Harry Watkison.
The TEAMtalk journalist reported via X [30 January] that the Senegalese speedster does not want to leave Marseille amid emerging interest from a handful of European clubs.
It was reported by FootballTransfers that the Toffees and Nottingham Forest were set to battle Villarreal for the former Watford man’s signature but the player seems to have shut those rumours down.
What a shame
A new winger would not be the most unnecessary transfer ahead of the closure of the January transfer window.
Jack Harrison and Dwight McNeil are Sean Dyche’s preferred players to deputise on the wings, with loanee Arnaut Danjuma yet to impress since arriving from Villarreal in the summer.
If either were to sustain a long-term injury, Everton would probably have to change tactics or formation, with limited options to replace one in a worst-case scenario.
Also, Sarr would represent Dyche with a very different attacking player, capable of playing anywhere across the front line and as an attacking midfielder. His fluidity would cause problems for any Premier League defence, proven by his 10 goals and six assists in two seasons for Watford.

Rather than the delicate touches of Harrison or McNeil’s ability to cut in, Sarr is a much more direct winger. The player would help push Everton up the pitch before unleashing a pin-point cross to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Sarr has been somewhat underwhelming in Ligue 1 since arriving last summer, with only three goals and one assist in 14 appearances. However, with a lot of experience in England, it would have been a smart move for Everton.
