Everton to sell Jarrad Branthwaite for ‘absurd’ fee as late Goodsion transfer bid mooted before deadline
Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells…
Bryan King believes the only way Everton would sell Jarrad Branthwaite this month would be if an “absurd” offer came in.
Premier League duo Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in his signature, along with Real Madrid [Corriere dello Sport, 27 January].
Branthwaite has 25 appearances in all competitions for Everton this season, 19 of which have come in the Premier League.
Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “The fact of the matter is that he’s a player that has been used a lot by Dyche. I can’t see the point of losing him until the summer, if they are going to sell him. He’s important to Dyche.
“Unless there comes a silly offer. If that happens, that would give Dyche the chance to bring in a couple of decent players, for anything between £10million and £20million. But that would be the only way, if the money offered for him was absurd.”
Branthwaite has been in superb form for the Toffees this season, with his loan spell at PSV last season undoubtedly key to his displays this time around.
Dyche will be desperate for the 21-year-old to stay at Goodison Park for as long as possible, but given the club’s financial issues, an exit may be on the cards.

The one silver lining for the Toffees would be the fee involved, particularly given that there is interest coming from three European powerhouses in the form of Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
