Ex-Everton Scout makes Ben Godfrey prediction as Leeds United transfer news emerges

Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells…

Bryan King believes Leeds United will come in with another offer for Everton centre-back Ben Godfrey this month.

According to FootballTransfers (30 January), the Whites are expected to table a renewed bid for the player after an initial loan approach was rejected by the Toffees.

Godfrey has made just four appearances in all competitions this season, but played the entire 90 minutes as Everton drew 0-0 with Fulham on Tuesday (30 January).

It was just the defender’s third appearance in the league, with his other minutes under Sean Dyche arriving in the League Cup.

Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “If Leeds have made one offer, then they’ll make two. And that could happen very soon.

“The deal would certainly make sense, because Leeds have got to get back up, that’s for sure. They have to get back in the Premier League.

“I think he’s a player capable of playing in the Championship. He needs a break, he needs to be playing regular football.

“If he gets a chance with Leeds, maybe it will open the door again at Everton for him if he does well. Or maybe Leeds will turn around and say ‘alright, he’s done really well for us, how much do you want for him?’”
