Liverpool transfer news: Everton twist emerges in pursuit to sign Maximilian Beier
Liverpool and Everton are both keen on securing the services of Maximilian Beier ahead of the transfer deadline along with Brentford and Burnley, according to Sport Bild.
The German newspaper reported in its print edition on Wednesday, 31 January, page 25, that the two Merseyside rivals and the Clarets all want to sign the 21-year-old Hoffenheim forward.
Brentford too, are keen on securing the German’s services but have already been given a negative response.
Tough one
Beating Liverpool to a transfer target is certainly not going to be an easy deal for the Toffees for a plethora of reasons this window.
Apart from the fact that one side is challenging for the league and the other one is battling relegation, there’s also the financial aspect.
Everton are in the midst of a takeover, docked 10 points because of breaching Premier League’s financial rules and another fresh charge has emerged in the last few weeks.
This makes things harder for the club to really sign players permanently and a loan deal will be the best option forward for them.
With Beto arriving in the summer and Sean Dyche finding a way to make both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and the Portuguese work together in the same team, it’s hard to imagine him wanting a striker ahead of the deadline.

Beier too, is on the cusp of being called up to the national team, so unless he’s getting a regular starting opportunity, he’s probably not moving to the Premier League ahead of 11 pm.
In other Everton news, the Toffees’ transfer deal to sign an in-form player in January will now include a £7m option to buy.
