Sky Sports journalist shares ‘evident’ Everton transfer verdict after 0-0 draw v Fulham

It is “evident” that Everton are in need of a new “predatory striker,” according to Sky Sports journalist Ben Grounds.

The verdict was shared after the Toffees played out a 0-0 Premier League draw with Fulham on Tuesday (30 January).

Sean Dyche’s side dropped into the relegation zone despite the point, with Luton Town overtaking them after beating Brighton 4-0.

“The wasteful Rodrigo Muniz headed straight at Jordan Pickford from Bobby Decordova-Reid’s cross,” Grounds wrote for Sky Sports (30 January). “Then Beto served up a contender for miss of the season deep into stoppage time.

“It served to underline how both these sides are in need of a predatory striker,” with Grounds labelling that issue “evident.”

Disappointing

Some Everton supporters may view the draw against Fulham as a point gained, but others will look at it as points dropped.

The latter sentiment is particularly true since summer signing Beto really did miss a glorious chance to clinch all three points at Craven Cottage.

But his unsuccessful attempt simply summarises the attacking situation at Everton right now, with the likes of Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin firing blanks all too often.

The strikers are really short of confidence, something that Dyche needs to fix as soon as possible if the Toffees are to stay up this season.

After rising up the ranks following their 10-point deduction, the Merseyside club are now right back in the danger zone.

Making matters much worse was the thumping victory for Luton against Brighton, which will strike fear into all Everton supporters, and perhaps even Dyche.

Everton

But the Toffees cannot afford to focus on other clubs at this moment in time, with their own form the most important issue.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are “huge fans” of one Leicester City star as a late January development emerges.
