Everton: Journalist shares likelihood of Deadline-Day exit for Amadou Onana at Goodison Park
We’re delighted to welcome Sky Sports News journalist Dan Bardell for his exclusive reaction to Everton transfer news on Deadline Day…
Dan Bardell believes Everton star Amadou Onana won’t be allowed to leave Goodison Park before the transfer deadline at 11 pm on Thursday (1 February).
Speaking to GiveMeSport on 25 January, Fabrizio Romano said the Belgian international is attracting interest from several clubs across Europe, especially in England.
The Italian journalist added that the Toffees are waiting to see what happens as they are waiting on a “big-money” offer for the 22-year-old.
Although Bardell admitted that Onana will eventually move on from the Blues, he added that the midfielder is an “excellent asset” and his value is only likely to go up if he remains on Merseyside until the end of the season.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, the Sky Sports journalist said: “I think after another half a season in the Premier League, his value goes up again.
“Everton can’t afford to lose players either, can they? They’re not blessed with the biggest squad in the world. He’s a player who was a good signing and has continued to grow. He’s an excellent asset, who is going to continue to grow in value.
“Everton will need him in the second half of the season and, even if they sell him with this amount of time left in the window, are they really going to be able to get anyone in who’s anywhere near his level or even be able to get anyone in at all? Probably not.

“So I don’t think Everton in any world would sell him now, especially on the last day or the last hours of the transfer window.
“He’s a player that ultimately is going to move on from Everton, but it’s a player that Everton need. I think it’s more advantageous for them to have another half a season out of him because his value is only going to go up.”
