Exit-linked Ben Godfrey sends message after what happened in Everton draw v Fulham
Everton defender Ben Godfrey has sent a message after the club’s 0-0 draw against Fulham on Tuesday (30 January).
Craven Cottage played host to the Premier League encounter, with Godfrey playing the entire 90 minutes in West London.
The centre-back made just his third league appearance of the season, and just his fourth in all competitions, having also featured in the League Cup.
Godfrey has strongly been linked with a Goodison Park exit in the current transfer window, but journalist Jacque Talbot reported on X on Wednesday (31 January) that he could stay at the club, with Everton having knocked back offers from AC Milan and Atalanta.
Taking to social media after the draw with Fulham, Godfrey posted on Instagram (31 January): “Clean sheet, another night we take all 3.”
Staying at Goodison?
It has been looking likely that Godfrey would move on from Everton in the winter transfer window, not only because of the apparent interest in the player, but also because of his lack of game time in recent months.
But that has now been thrown into doubt right at the end of the window after Sean Dyche decided to hand the centre-back a very rare start against Fulham.
And he certainly impressed, working well with his defensive teammates to keep out a constant flow of attacks from the Cottagers to achieve a well-earned clean sheet.
Whether that display is enough to convince Dyche that Godfrey must be kept at all costs remains to be seen, but it certainly would make sense for the latter to remain at Goodison given what lies ahead for Everton.
The Toffees are set to be up against it in the months to come as they try and avoid a disastrous relegation to the Championship.

And they will need all the help they can get, with Godfrey perhaps still having a key role to play in their ongoing fight for survival.
In other Everton news, a BBC Sport pundit has made a “laughing again” prediction about the Toffees as appeal news emerges.
