Sky Sports shares Everton Deadline Day plan for new midfielder as loan development emerges
Everton are still open to signing a new central midfielder on Deadline Day, but they cannot afford a loan fee for a player, according to Sky Sports.
The publication reported on its website on Thursday (1 February) that the Toffees will find a new arrival difficult given their severe financial problems.
Sky Sports added that the club’s main intention in the current transfer window has been to keep their squad together.
Not easy
The financial problems at the Merseyside outfit have been well documented in recent times, with the Toffees having been deducted 10 points earlier this season for financial breaches, with another charge hanging over their head.
Signing new players will, therefore, be very tricky, with manager Sean Dyche right to be wanting to keep hold of his current squad.
Not losing his star players will be the priority, but even various squad players should be kept at Goodison Park given the task at hand.
Everton currently occupy 18th place in the Premier League table, dropping into the relegation zone after their draw with Fulham and Luton Town’s win over Brighton.
And right now Dyche is without his midfield powerhouse Abdoulaye Doucoure due to injury, with the boss now relying on Amadou Onana, Idrissa Gueye and James Garner in his absence.

Losing Doucoure is a massive blow, meaning the man in the dugout may be tempted to try his utmost to bring in a new midfielder.
But with the transfer deadline rapidly approaching, and more importantly with the club’s aforementioned financial problems, any deal will be extremely tough.
In other Everton news, Onana has sent a two-word message to Toffees loanee Neal Maupay after what he did to a Tottenham ace.
