Richard Keys calls out Everton incident v Tottenham in Premier League
Richard Keys has insisted that Everton should have had their opening goal in the 2-2 draw against Tottenham disallowed at Goodison Park on Saturday 3 February.
Jack Harrison backed into Guglielmo Vicario before Dominic Calvert-Lewin headed the ball into an empty net, which turned out to be Harrison’s goal, with Michael Oliver waving away complaints.
Keys admitted he was glad that the goal was given, but that it should have been a foul by the Leeds United loanee, with other decisions in previous weeks helping the case of Everton.
He said live on beIN Sports, as shared on X: “He’s taken up a position in front of him, turned his back on it, pushed him over the line.
“I’m glad it’s given and we’ve got a football match, but it’s a foul.”
Andy Gray could not believe his sidekick was so passionate about his thoughts it should have been disallowed.
Premier League finally on side at Everton.
Given the decisions that have gone against the Toffees in recent weeks, it is amazing to finally get one potentially contentious call to go their way.
Harrison wasn’t exactly all over Vicario, who was complaining throughout the match about how he was treated in the box at set-pieces, a tactic that worked all afternoon.
After the Amadou Onana handball against Manchester City and the Antonee Robinson incident at Fulham in midweek, there would have been even more outrage if this was disallowed.
Football is a contact sport remember? Sean Dyche is never one to shy away from that and he makes sure that his side is always giving 100% to every single challenge.
Some of these so-called big-six club players need to get a grip and realise that not everything will be handed to them on a plate, especially when you’re in the Goodison Park cauldron.
This was the right decision, for once, on an afternoon of protests.
In other Everton news, the Toffees appeal lawyer was spotted at Goodison Park ahead of their clash with Tottenham.
