
Everton help clinch ‘unbelievable’ Premier League record in 2-2 draw v Tottenham
Everton certainly played their part as a record 26 goals were scored across five Premier League games on Saturday (3 February).
As per the official Premier League website (3 February), the previous record of 24 goals on a five-match day had only been set on 3 December 2023.
Winger Jack Harrison and defender Jarrad Branthwaite found the back of the net for the Toffees as they drew 2-2 with Tottenham.
The last thing on Everton’s mind going into their meeting with Tottenham would have been about helping play a role in a Premier League record.
But goals from Harrison and Branthwaite got the scoring for the day underway, with the goals then flying in throughout an “unbelievable” day of action [official Premier League website, 3 February].
Burnley and Fulham also played out a 2-2 draw, while Newcastle United and Luton Town shared the spoils in an eight-goal thriller.
Brighton and Aston Villa meanwhile picked up huge wins, with the former defeating Crystal Palace 4-1 and the latter beating Sheffield United 5-0.
Everton help set record
It was certainly a day for goals, one of which could prove absolutely crucial for the Toffees, with Branthwaite heading in a 94th-minute equaliser at Goodison Park.
