Everton argument will get them nowhere against Premier League – Expert
Dan Plumley has insisted that any argument of double jeopardy at Everton is not likely to get anywhere after being charged for a second time by the Premier League.
The finance expert admitted that while it is a “fair argument”, the rules and regulations are different in the Premier League to the EFL, where it would have been considered.
Everton are currently appealing their points deduction from the first charge, and new evidence and arguments will not be considered until that is over [i News].
“I think it’s a fair argument,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“I get the sense that looking at the regulation and how it sits is they’re probably not going to get anywhere with that because it’s not in the regulatory framework, it’s something they’re citing on that is not fair and they’ve cited similar rules in the EFL.
“The problem is, it’s not there in the Premier League ones which is why the Premier League can obviously put the second charge down.
“I think it’s one of those where I understand the argument, but if it’s not in the actual rules and regulations then I’m not so sure it will be something they can play on heavily because it’s not there.
“We have to remember of course that all the way back in time, clubs signed up to these regulations.”

Everton, charges and appeals.
With the outcome of the first appeal due in what could be days, immediate attention could turn to the second charge and another potential appeal.
The double jeopardy argument, whilst fair, may not get them anywhere though and if the first punishment is upheld, there is a risk of yet more coming the way of the club this season.
