Everton chiefs thrilled as Elijah Campbell shines on debut for Fleetwood Town

The Everton chiefs tasked with keeping tabs on the players out on loan surely will have been impressed by Elijah Campbell’s weekend exploits for Fleetwood Town v Port Vale.

The 19-year-old defender left the Toffees on loan in January in order to get game time at Fleetwood and took little time to adapt to life at his new club.

He ended up winning the game 3-0 and his debut performance thrilled his new club so much that they took to Instagram to congratulate him.

Playing on the left side of a back three, the teenager showed the Fleetwood fans just why he’s at the academy of a Premier League club.

While he is predominantly known to play as a centre-back, Everton’s official website claim that he can play at left-back too and he’ll certainly be looking to follow in Jarrad Branthwaite’s footsteps.

They’ve also mentioned his athleticism so he could be someone who’s capable of carrying the ball out from the back and hopefully, continues to improve.

He’s also trained with the senior team at Finch Farm so he is among the highly rated youngsters at the club.

According to Sofascore, he completed 31 out of 43 passes in the game, but out of the 43, 16 were long ball attempts, which is what skewed his accuracy.

He also won two out of three aerial duels which shows that he’s not only technical but can do the dirty side of the game as well.

Campbell himself will be thrilled with his performance in the game and hopefully he can go up a few notches in the coming weeks.

In other Everton news, the Toffees’ transfer deal to sign an in-form player in January would have included a £7m option to buy.
