Everton: New Premier League FFP regulations could be in place for summer transfer window
The Premier League could be set to introduce new FFP rules ahead of the summer transfer window after Everton and Nottingham Forest were charged for breaches.
The January transfer window saw a record low amount spent in the Premier League, with many clubs concerned about the Profit and Sustainability rules that have seen the Toffees docked ten points and then charged for a second time this season.
But according to iNews (6 February) the Premier League are meeting with all 20 clubs to discuss concerns and implement changes, with a vote expected to take place before the summer transfer window.
“Although there is still plenty about the new regulations to be ironed out – with uncertainty over how spending on academies and infrastructure will come into the PSR equation, for example – i understands it is possible they will be introduced in time for the summer transfer window.”
Everton shafted as usual
So Everton gets charged and docked ten points, then gets charged again despite appealing the initial punishment which covers two-thirds of the same period, and then the rules get changed?
Smells like a conspiracy.
It’s no shock that the top clubs have been prevented spending during the most recent transfer window, and now suddenly everyone wants to talk about the outdated rules and getting them changed.
But when it was Everton who were getting hit with punishments and avoiding relegation by the skin of their teeth everyone was silent about how to deal with it.

The club have been left in a financial hole by Farhad Moshiri’s ridiculous spending without a plan and the Premier League continue to stall on an answer about the 777 takeover which makes things more difficult.
If Everton can avoid relegation this season then they’ll hopefully be able to profit from these new rules, but first we have to still be part of the league and that means results on the pitch need to pick up quickly.
