Journalist makes Sean Dyche prediction after ‘rare sight’ in Everton v Tottenham
Everton could become more like Sean Dyche’s Burnley after their draw 2-2 against Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park.
That is according to journalist Alex Keble, who noted that the Clarets fought for points until the very end when Dyche was their manager.
Keble has now predicted the Toffees to be more like the “stubborn” and “ruthless” Burnley of old after twice coming from behind to draw with Tottenham on Saturday (3 February).
“Everton have not won any of their last six Premier League matches, drawing their last three, but the equaliser in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday will have felt like a win,” Keble wrote for the official Premier League website (5 February).
“That’s because it was such a rare sight for Everton supporters – and could be a springboard for Everton to become a little more Dychian than they have been.
“Sean Dyche’s Burnley were stubborn, ruthless, and they kept fighting for points right until the death. Yet before Saturday’s match, Everton had lost 10 and drawn one of the 11 Premier League matches in which they had gone a goal down.”
Everton dig in v Tottenham
The Toffees went behind after just four minutes in their Premier League clash with the North London club at Goodison Park, with Richarlison breaking the deadlock on his return to Merseyside.
The hosts levelled after 30 minutes through Jack Harrison, only for Richarlison to haunt his former club once more before half-time.
But Dyche’s men kept pressuring their visitors, with that pressure paying off in the dying seconds as star defender Jarrad Branthwaite headed in a dramatic equaliser.
Given both the scoreline for much of the match and indeed Tottenham’s position in the Premier League table, Dyche will be over the moon with the final result.
With relegation rivals Luton Town drawing at Newcastle United, the point leaves the Toffees in the bottom three, but it should give them plenty of confidence for the tough tests in the near future.

Unfortunately for Dyche and his players, Manchester City are up next, with that clash scheduled for the Etihad on Saturday (10 February).
